Ginetta can today confirm that no less than four brand-new Ginetta G57 prototypes will make their competitive race debut in this weekends V de V series opener in Barcelona.
The Yorkshire marque will join the 25-strong grid for the four hour endurance encounter on 18-20 March at the Circuit de Barcelona, Catalunya. Entered into the PFV Class, company boss Lawrence Tomlinson will head up the four car entry.
Lawrence will be sharing driving duties with long-time co-pilot, Ginetta Factory Driver Mike Simpson in the first of the four entries, whilst Mikes fellow Factory Driver Charlie Robertson will be paired with Colin White in a CWS- entered car.
Meanwhile, Simpson Racing will field a further two cars, with Nick Jones, Craig Fleming and Adam Sharpe at the helm of the first, whilst Jonathan Colman will be joined by Adrian Watt and Gaëtan Paletou behind the wheel of a second.
Ewan Baldry, Ginetta Technical Director; The V de V Championship has been on board with Ginettas prototype programme since its early days. The organisers provide an excellent championship which fits incredibly well with the racing ethos we have here at Ginetta. The tracks are ideal for the car, and were looking forward to a positive debut!
V de V Series Boss, Eric Van de Vyver; Im pleased to continue working alongside a well-known, successful manufacturer as Ginetta. We look forward to welcoming them back to V de V this year in the LMP3/PFV category. The G57 has competitive price that reflects V de Vs philosophy, and thus remains open to motorsport enthusiasts and professionals alike.
This will be the first time the Ginetta G57 turns a wheel in anger, but in line with V de V specifications the car will be running a restricted engine capable of 420bhp. Nevertheless, the team are looking forward to a positive weekend, with champagne and silverware at the forefront of their minds.
